Knives Out – Up for an Original Screenplay Oscar, this star-studded whodunit from writer/director Rian Johnson was hailed by both critics and audiences alike for its unexpected twists and turns, its performances, and — most of all — Chris Evans’ honeycomb-stitch sweater that went viral.

Frozen II – The more I watch this Oscar-nominated animated insta-classic, and the more I listen to its soundtrack, the more I become convinced that it’s actually superior to its beloved predecessor. The continuing adventures of Anna (Kristen Bell) and Elsa (Idina Menzel) deliver a strong message of empowerment that I found uplifting and inspiring.

Ford v Ferrari – This Best Picture nominee is one of those “stranger than fiction” true stories that I enjoyed the heck out of precisely because I knew so little about it — or the world of racing — going in. So I had no idea what was going to happen when famed automotive designer Carroll Shelby (Matt Damon) and hot-headed British race car driver Ken Miles (Christian Bale) team up to help Ford Motor Company actually be able to compete against the likes of the high-end Italian racing giant Ferrari.

Who does not like a solid mystery thriller where every second is spent wondering who is the actual killer? What is Knives Out About?

The story of ‘Knives Out’ is set in a massive house owned by an acclaimed crime writer called Harlan Thrombey (Plummer). One day, Thrombey decides to invite all the members of his family to his home for his 85th birthday. The relationships between the members of the Thrombey family are rather strained and he wishes to rectify the same.

However, things take a drastic turn the day after everyone gathers at the home when it is discovered that someone has murdered the patriarch. The police are immediately called, and along with them comes a private detective called Benoit Blanc (Craig). He conducts a series of interviews with everyone who was present in the house when the murder was committed, and through these interviews, he gets to know a lot of secrets that were kept in the family. It is from this information and with some help from the authorities that Blanc plans to get to the bottom of the case.
